If i saw this in update notes first thing i'd do next time i ran game
F11 --> Audio --> Chat off

You really want to hear what the 13 year olds have to say everytime anything happens?

WoW has it and it is rather good, but for GW PvE it isn't needed and for PvP everyone already has access to a vent/TS server already so what would be the point?

I actually like the idea of an official voice chat through Guild Wars itself, if it can be managed. Because right now, some people who run a voice chat server tell people the URL, which is their IP number. So the person just gave out his/her IP number to his/her computer, unless I'm mistaken. If that's the case, not really smart...

Very few people use there home PC as a Vent/TS server they just buy one as they cost basicly nothing.

Home TS servers for non profits cost NOTHING. and are more common then many think... I know of at least 30 private TS servers just among the players I know from a multitude of games... There is the added aspect of staying private too. Because the TS system does not list them if its not on their subscription system. Thats a good thing. That makes your TS server for your members and friends alone...

a) Voice has not gone live on WoW yet
b) Vent/TS > monthly fees

GW is not WoW. There are two key differences:
-) Guild Wars has no monhtly fees.
-) World of Warcraft is a good game.

It went live on about 25-30 EU servers a few days ago and I don't know how many US servers. It has also been on the test servers for months.

If GW did implement VOIP it would be horrid quality to keep the BW down. I would rather use Vent/TS. People on dial up would be crying.

NCSoft has its own VOIP service for its games. ITs all a matter of ANET tapping into that resource.

the waves of 10 year olds in chat alone gives me a migraine, voice chat might be enough to drive me insane.

Voice Compression and transmission is too much for the Anet resources and the 56Kb/s playable policy.

Thanks
You don't have to listen to 10 year olds, simply leave the chat or make a new one.

Just look at Halo 2/3's integrated voice chat system. Its not really that useful, its mostly just used to hurl insults at people. What a great "improvement."

If you've ever played on XBox Live, you'd know exactly what Hawk's talking about.

"Get da RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO over here noob, dude, that shit's so gay, Ima gonna go kill this gay shit."

I mean come on...do most of us really want to listen to some idiot trash talking on a voice program? I keep the "All chat" tab clicked off as it is. I like listening to my music...I don't want to have to listen to some weirdo with a high voice shouting off expletives

Just because it can be ignored doesn't mean abuses of the system are not going to happen and won't make that behavior any less against the rules.

If I walk down the street and see somebody being mugged, I can stay clear of it by walking on the other side of the street. That doesn't make the muggers behavior any less reprehensible.

I can definetly see it being used for team chat in RA/TA, maybe even HA, but I'm not sure anywhere else, since guilds have their own vent/ts for it to begin with.

Take this ideas resources and fix the HORRIBLE LAG that is already in the game.
Many people try and play this game on dial up, VOIP would slay them.

rather not hear the sharp whining voices of a 14-year-old.
Plus the bandwidth penalty is not really worth it.
